Bart Kaëll

Bart Kaëll - Flemish classics and pure feel-good

Bart Kaëll (real name Bart Marcel Emilienne Gyselinck, born 2 August 1960 in Oudenaarde) is one of Flanders’ most beloved entertainers. With sing-along hits such as “La Mamadora”, “De Marie-Louise”, “Duizend terrassen in Rome”, “Zeil je voor het eerst” and “Mooi weer vandaag”, he has created unforgettable moments for generations of fans. His performances guarantee a cheerful atmosphere, nostalgia and plenty of feel-good vibes.

The story behind Bart Kaëll

Bart Kaëll studied at the renowned Studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp and gained his first stage experience in coastal shows, often alongside Luc Appermont. In 1982 he won the audience prize at the Baccarabeker, an important stepping stone for young Flemish artists. A year later, he took part in the Belgian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest with “Symfonie”, earning a solid result and national attention.

His big breakthrough came in the mid-1980s with the summer hit “La Mamadora”, which topped the Flemish charts for weeks. In the years that followed he scored a series of evergreens, including “De Marie-Louise”, “Duizend terrassen in Rome”, “Zeil je voor het eerst” and “Mooi weer vandaag”. These songs made Bart Kaëll a true household name in Flemish music.

Alongside his music career, Bart also became a familiar face on television. For VTM he presented popular shows such as the VTM Mini-playbackshow, the Soundmixshow and Het Rad van Fortuin (Wheel of Fortune), which brought him into living rooms all over Flanders. At the same time he continued releasing albums and performing in theatres, on town squares and at festivals.

In 2013, Bart Kaëll was honoured for 30 years on stage and inducted into the Radio 2 Hall of Fame. With the album “In ’t nieuw” and later releases he proved he is still musically relevant today. More recently he enjoyed renewed success with “Wat is jouw geheim” and celebrated 40 years as an artist with new music and theatre shows, often together with Luc Appermont.

Today, Bart Kaëll is more than ever an artist who connects generations: from fans who have been singing along since the eighties to new listeners discovering him through TV, radio and streaming. His warm voice, humour and spontaneous charm turn every show into a genuine party.
